Jesus knew he was going to have a rough week. The pressure and strain of the sacrifice that he was going to make began to take a toll on him. He was walking with his disciples back to Jerusalem after spending a night on the outskirts of the city, and as they were walking He became hungry. He went to get a fig from a nearby tree and when he saw that the tree was not bearing any figs he cursed out the tree. Jesus cursed out the tree. Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever been so stressed that you over react to a situation? Well if it happened to Jesus it can happen to you. The weight of the world can seem so heavy that it makes us sensitive to the slightest thing. (and for those of who are having problems with Jesus being stressed remember He was FULLY human and FULLY divine.) But even in His stressed out moments Jesus was still teaching. Never let your stress keep you from what you are suppose to be doing. Find an outlet. Find a healthy and creative way to deal with the pressures of the world. Maybe it is working out, taking walks, talking to a true friend, learning a hobby, or cursing out a tree. Do something! Find an outlet so that your pressure does not produce pain and your burdens do not breed bitterness. Ask God to use your stress to ignite your faith. You are too close to your promise to be hindered by the weight of the work it entails. Tell those mountains to go for a swim. You’ve got work to do.
